Reflection coughed, a spray of crimson flecking the cracked metal of the console. "It's a lie," she gasped, clawing at her temples. "The cracks… not age… deliberate."

She could feel the memories sloughing off, the anchor's protest against her forced downward pull a searing agony in her mind. "Tiechui… he's… he's still here. Not gone. Just…" Her eyes rolled back, unfocused. "He's the anchor now. We're both the anchor."

Heng stumbled back, his face a mask of despair. "You said he was dead! You said the Sky's End was born from his sacrifice, not his prison!" He gripped his empty anchor point, the phantom ache of its absence a fresh wound. "This is just another chain, Reflection. Another cage."

She managed a weak, shaky breath. "No… not cage. He fights. But the Pull… it takes…"

The faint whine of approaching metal grew louder, and three Council drones emerged from the swirling upward abyss, their optical sensors glowing with malevolent intent.
